Benham & Reeves Taiwan property workshops, October 2026

UK, Japan and Dubai

Four one-on-one sessions in Taipei and Taichung covering UK student property and tax, London commuter towns, Japan and Dubai.

Buying property overseas raises questions and the answers depend on who you are. Are you a parent seeking accommodation for your child heading to a London university? A first-time buyer looking at off-plan? Or an experienced investor comparing markets? Every potential buyer has different concerns.

This October, we are organising small, in-person sessions in Taipei and Taichung. Each session covers a single market - you can enquire about the one you are interested in.

Benham & Reeves has worked in London property for over 65 years, with 21 London branches and multiple overseas offices. Our Taipei team works in your time zone and can help you select a property. We also help with the buying process, furnishing and lettings management before and after you buy.

If you need lawyers or mortgage brokers, we can introduce you.

Buying near a university in the UK

Wed 7 Oct (Taichung) and Thu 8 Oct (Taipei), 2 pm

If your child is going to study in London, renting for many years can be expensive. Some families instead choose to buy. We will help you understand when buying makes sense and when it doesn’t. We will also discuss examples from past clients.

The sessions will cover how to judge a neighbourhood for safety and convenience. Attendees will get insights on which developments sit close to UCL, King’s College London and the University of the Arts London.

If you are thinking about the property as part of a longer family plan, we’ll walk you through holding and exit options.

Wed 7 Oct & Thu 8 Oct
Time: 2:00 PM
Venue: Taichung / Taipei (Full address provided upon registration)

London’s commuter towns and the tax spreadsheet

Wed 14 Oct (Taipei) and Thu 15 Oct (Taichung), 2 pm

Not every London property investment is in Zone 1. The planned sessions will cover developments in well-connected commuter areas, where tenant demand is steady and consistent and entry prices are lower.

For the numbers? We’ll walk through a spreadsheet that sets rental income against tax and running costs. This way, you can see what’s left.

We will also discuss the Renters’ Rights Act, which has been in force since 1 May 2026 and changes how tenancies work for landlords. Some entry points start from around NTD 14 million.

Wed 14 Oct & Thu 15 Oct
Time: 2:00 PM
Venue: Taipei / Taichung (Full address provided upon registration)

Japan: Osaka and Niseko

Wed 21 Oct (Taichung) and Thu 22 Oct (Taipei), 2 pm

The weak yen has made Japan cheaper to discerning buyers holding other currencies. Make sure you check the current exchange rate before deciding.

Our team has handpicked developments in central Osaka and in Niseko, the ski resort town. We will also compare expected rents with costs and walk through the process from sourcing a property to transferring title and managing it locally.

Wed 21 Oct & Thu 22 Oct
Time: 2:00 PM
Venue: Taichung / Taipei (Full address provided upon registration)

Dubai: DAMAC developments

Fri 30 Oct and Sat 31 Oct (Taipei), 2 pm to 4 pm

Where in Dubai is demand growing? What does a purchase cost once you add fees, service charges and funding? An official DAMAC representative will join our team to answer both.

We’ll also show some new developments before they are widely marketed. This also includes options that may meet the AED 2 million level for a 10-year Golden Visa. Whether a particular unit qualifies depends on its process and the current rules.

Fri 30 Oct – Sat 31 Oct
Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Venue: Taipei (Exclusive venue details will be provided upon RSVP)
